Learn What Kind Of Blueberries To Use In Your Recipe

The Highbush Blueberry Counsil has compiled an awesome "Usage Chart" that can let you choose the best form of blueberries to use in your recipe. The chart recommends from fresh, frozen, dried, and even liquid form blueberries. It's farely easy to use. Simply choose your foodtype (available categories are: breakfast, beverages, salads & dressings, sweet sauces, baked goods, & desserts), then read on down the list to find your specific food item. Once you find the item you're looking for, look to the right of the chart and you'll see corresponding "x"s that indicate whether you can use a specific type of blueberry. Check out the chart here.

What Ingredients Pair well with Blueberries?

Blueberries are surprisingly pairable with an incredible variety of ingredients. Since blueberries have a savory and sweet flavor they benefit when paired with salty, vibrant, and peppy dishes. Two great dishes that illustrate this are Blueberry Pizza and Blueberry Turkey Burgers.

Other common pairings that work well with blueberries are lemon and mint. It's really easy to overlook other equally delicious ingredients such as: rosemary, coconut, balsamic, and even bananas.

I surpringly excellent pairing with blueberries is cheese! A simple combination could be feta cheese, blueberries, and cucumbers. Don't forget to try bluebberies with goat cheese or brie.

It's fairly easy to enhance any dish with the flavor, color, textures, and sweetness of blueberries. See what combinations you can come up with. Let us know via Facebook.
